Dear Bible Students, Here are five Bible Verses about
Do you believe in fate/destiny?
Ecclesiastes 9:11 – “I returned to see under the sun that the swift do not always win the race, nor the mighty the battle, nor do the wise always have the food, nor do the intelligent always have the riches, nor do those with knowledge always have success, because time and unexpected events overtake them all.”
Commentary: This verse clearly shows that life is not governed by fate or a fixed destiny. Circumstances can change due to “time and unexpected events.” Success or hardship is not predetermined for each person. Rather than being controlled by destiny, we experience life’s uncertainties, which calls for humility and reliance on Jehovah.
Proverbs 16:9 – “A man’s heart may plot out his course, but Jehovah directs his steps.”
Commentary: Humans have the ability to make plans and exercise free will. However, Jehovah can guide and direct our steps when we seek Him. This scripture shows a balance—our lives are not ruled by fate, but Jehovah lovingly provides direction when we trust in Him.
Galatians 6:7 – “Do not be misled: God is not one to be mocked. For whatever a person is sowing, this he will also reap.”
Commentary: This verse emphasizes personal responsibility rather than destiny. Our actions produce results. Instead of believing that outcomes are fixed, we learn that our choices matter. By sowing good deeds and spiritual actions, we can expect positive results in harmony with Jehovah’s principles.
James 4:14-15 – “Whereas you do not know what your life will be tomorrow. For you are a mist appearing for a little while and then disappearing. Instead, you should say: ‘If Jehovah wills, we will live and do this or that.’”
Commentary: James reminds us that the future is uncertain and not mapped out by fate. Life is temporary and fragile. Rather than assuming control over our destiny, we humbly acknowledge Jehovah’s will in our plans and depend on His guidance for the future.
Jeremiah 29:11 – “‘For I well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward you,’ declares Jehovah, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give you a future and a hope.’”
Commentary: Jehovah assures His people that His intentions are loving and purposeful. Instead of blind fate directing events, Jehovah’s purpose offers hope and peace. This verse reassures us that when we align ourselves with God’s will, we can look forward to a hopeful future.

Prayer to Jehovah
Heavenly Father, Jehovah,
We approach You with gratitude and reverence, asking that You grant knowledge and wisdom to Humbled Servant. You know his desire and feel his heart as he is destined to serve others by sharing the Bible’s message. Please guide his steps, just as Your Word says that though a man may plan his course, You direct his steps.
As he gives his time, talents, and energy to support the spiritual needs of others in the Online Community, strengthen him when unexpected events arise. Help him to remember that life is not ruled by fate, but that You lovingly guide those who rely on You. May he continue sowing fine works, confident that whatever he sows in harmony with Your will, he will reap in due time.
Teach him to say, “If Jehovah wills,” in all his plans, and fill his heart with the peace and hope You promise. May his service bring honor to Your holy name and encouragement to many.
We ask for Your continued blessing and wisdom.
In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.
